General Dentistry
At Upper Denby Dental Care, we care above all about the dental health and wellbeing of our patients. That’s why we ensure that the general dentistry services that we provide are second to none, making a healthy smile the cornerstone of all we do.
Check-Ups
Prevention is always better than treatment. That’s why we encourage our patients to attend routine check-ups as often as every 6 months, reducing the likelihood of dental problems and keeping your smile looking it’s best.
Check-up frequency is decided upon based on the unique needs of every individual. At your check up your dentist will typically
Examine the soft tissues inside your mouth (cheeks, tongue, and palate) to screen for oral cancer and other pathology
Check the muscles and glands of your head and neck
Assess your jaw joints and how they move
Review how your teeth bite and function together
Inspect your teeth under magnification for signs of damage or decay
Carry out a full gum health assessment
Take any necessary X-rays to check areas not visible to the eye
Explain all findings and discuss any recommended next steps
Your dentist will ensure you have ample time to discuss your dental health and ask any questions, and will thoroughly explain the reason and benefits of any treatments they advocate for.
What does a check-up consist of?
Root Canal Treatment
Inside each of your teeth is a soft tissue called the pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels. A root canal is the space inside the tooth where this pulp lives.
What is a Root Canal?
Root canal treatment is a way to save a tooth that has become infected or damaged. If the pulp inside your tooth becomes infected (often due to decay or injury), it can cause pain and may lead to an abscess.
During the treatment, the dentist carefully removes the infected pulp, cleans the inside of the tooth, and then seals it to protect against further infection. It’s a very common procedure and helps you keep your natural tooth, avoiding the need for removal.
What is Root Canal Treatment?
When would I need a Root Canal Treatment?
You may need a root canal if you have:
A tooth that’s painful, especially when chewing
Sensitivity to hot or cold that doesn’t go away
Swelling or tenderness near the tooth
Darkening of the tooth
A history of trauma to the tooth
If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, it's important to get checked as soon as possible. Use the link to contact our team.
